Recording Meals Using The Home Room Option
The Point of Sale system permits the use of the Home Room Option to record meals served to students.
This option will display the students on the screen by their assigned home room. The display includes their name, ID number and their photo. This feature is best used when the students come in by classroom which normally occurs in the primary grades. It may also be used effectively when serving breakfast in the classroom.
This is a quick way to enter meals as the cashier has but to touch the individual students button and the meal input screen is activated. If the Express Input feature is selected then the meal will be recorded and the screen will return to the classroom roster so the next student may be selected and meal recorded in the same manner. There will be no opportunity to record any Ala Carte sales using this method. The cashier may select not to use the Express Input feature in conjunction with the Homeroom Option at which instance their will be the opportunity for the recording of Ala Carte items.
It should be noted that the student classroom assignments must be correctly maintained in the students masterfile and that the teacher homeroom maintenance must be correctly maintained. The Homeroom Option being correctly displayed is dependent on these two items. The maintenance of student home room assignments and the teacher home room assignments must be made by the system administrators. Cashiers should report student home room changes to the system administrators when detected.
