Correcting Meal And Cash Mistakes At The Point Of Sale
There are instances where a cashier may make a mistake in recording meals and in recording cash.
The Point of Sale system makes it easy to correct both types of mistakes. Meal mistakes may occur when the wrong meal item is recorded or in incorrect number of meal items are recorded in an individual student's account. We may even record meal items to the wrong student and have to reverse that item from their account.
Cash mistakes may occur when we make a typing error in the amount tendered line in the meal input screen or just make a mistake in correctly counting and entering the amount. A cash mistake is also easily corrected.
It should be noted that mistakes made by a cashier become the responsibility of that cashier to correct. Mistakes may be detected as they occur or may be found as the cashier end of day reports are reviewed.
Mistakes made during a day must be corrected on that day. Any mistakes not detected during the serving day and that require a correction must be made by the food service office.
