Systems Design programs provide for the management of free, reduced and categorically eligible student statuses.
Students that had a free or reduced status as indicated in their master file the previous school year are granted a corresponding temporary status for 30 school days beginning with the first day of school in the subsequent school year. This temporary status is indicated in their master file by a blinking indication of this status. As free and reduced status applications are submitted and processed, this temporary status is removed and replaced by the status granted by the current application.
There may be parents or guardians that do not submit an application for the current year. There are several programs that are available to manage these circumstances.
A. Print letters to those households that have not submitted a current applications with students that have a temporary status
B. Print a list of students that have temporary statuses that will expire unless a current application is submitted
C. Change the status to paid for those students that have no current applications submitted by the end of the grace period
D. Change the status to paid of those students categorically eligible who have not re-qualified or have not current application
Note that the changing of statuses from free or reduced to paid must be accomplished by the administrators and requires overt action. This is not an automatic operation.
These actions and features will assist in the identification of students and families that need to take action to avoid the expiration of the temporary statuses granted as a result of a status or qualification from the previous year.
