Recording Meals Served In The Classroom
Systems Design has developed a solution for recording meals served in the classroom. We have for some time provided solutions for recording breakfast meals served in the classroom, but recording meals served in the classroom at lunch due to the Covid 19 Pandemic may present additional challenges. Most students start the school day in a designated home room classroom. Our solution for that situation has been to print classroom rosters with bar codes associated with each student. Teachers then mark each student served a meal and cashiers enter meals from the returned home room rosters. This option will still be available if you elect to use this method. Recording meals at lunch will probably require a different method of recording meals, as students may not be in their designated home room and therefore the home roster may not be used. The following video will illustrate the suggested method of recording meals served in the classroom.
The method shown in the video will require that all students have ID cards. The your POS system will produce student and staff ID cards as well as student ID bar codes on Avery 5160 adhesive labels. Your district may have existing student ID cards produced on platforms other than Systems Design. Please forward an image of the existing card you will be using in .pdf format so that we may be sure it is compatible with your POS scanners. We are able to program your Systems Design scanners to read most all bar code formats.
You may elect to produce all the student ID cards on the POS system. Please note that our ID cards must be printed on an HP printer and that this printer must have a bar code font. You may also want to order the ID card paper stock and the ID card laminating pouches as soon as possible to ensure your supply.
