Program Modifications to the POS System for Recording Non Congregant Meals
The video tutorial on the POS modifications for the Non Congregant meals is here
This page contains the substance of the email sent to all of the school districts using Systems Design. The objective of the email was to inform our users of the software modifications that have been made to accomodate curbside provision and recording of meals. The TDA has termed this "Non Congregant" meals. The software modifications made will permit our users to record meals served in several different time frames as explained in the body of the email (see the email content below). One of the main objectives is to obtain information from each district as to how they are to administer their Non Congregant meal program. You may submit your information by filling out the information form.

Systems Design was contacted by TDA at the end of July about providing separate tracking of what they refer to as NC (Non-Congregant} meals,
TDA will need to report the number of meals served in a typical setting and those delivered for remote/virtual consumption during the pandemic. We thought the most straightforward method for districts to record this would be to add another reimbursable meal key titled “Non-Congregant.” This shift would allow districts to run a report that will show the number of regular reimbursable meals and non-congregant meals for reporting purposes.
In order to serve your district's needs we need to know in an email response or by filling out this form if your district will be:
1. Serving Non-Congregant or curb-side meals?
2. If so will serve breakfast and lunch at the same time with one entry?
3. Will you serve breakfast and lunch meals for multiple days at the same time with one entry?
4. What is your district's start date for serving NC or curb-side meals?
As soon as this information is submitted to us, we can update your district's POS software with the correct configuration to match your specific requirements..
Systems Design has been working non stop to enhance our POS software to meet the new TDA requirements and your district's specific requirements for recording and reporting meals during the Covid 19 pandemic. We will be sending out instructions and tutorials on the non-congregant meal service and recording procedures in the near future. The modified software will permit you to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals as usual in both standard in cafeteria settings and for non congregant or curbside serving at the same time. The non-congregant meal program will allow the clerk to serve breakfast, lunch or dinner meals as you have in the past. The new software modifications will also allow the non- congregant or curb-side meals for breakfast and lunch to be served with a single scan or student entry, so that there will be no need to enter the breakfast meal and then the lunch meal separately. This means that there will be no need to log out for breakfast and then log back in to the POS system to record lunch meals served. The software modification will also allow the clerk to serve 1 to 5 days for future meals provided at the same serving with a single entry. Meals provided for future consumption will not be recorded in the POS system until the future date occurs and then they will be recorded on the appropriate day as part of the normal end of day process. All of the non-congregrant or curbside meals will be claimed at each student's home campus regardless of where the meals were provided and picked up. The software modification will notify a clerk that a non-congregant meal or meals have already been served and recorded should an attempt be made to obtain multiple meals for the same enrolled student..
As always, Systems Design strives to provide the most "up to date software" possible so that you will continue to be confident that your counting and claiming will be accurate. Please contact our software support office with comments, concerns and questions you may have.
Thank You for your prompt reply to the Covid 19 questionnaire
